I’ve been playing a lot of Skyrim recently. It took me several attempts to get it to click with me, but I’m glad I persevered and was ultimately cajoled into playing it again.

I’m playing a female Bosmer named Thorn. She specialises in archery, light armour, sneaking and thievery, with a growing sideline in one-handed combat and enchanting. At some point I’m going to have to unlock some more blacksmithing perks so I can have her craft some dragonscale armour for herself.

It’s reached a point now where I’ve unlocked almost every achievement available in the original campaign — I just need to finish up the Winterhold College quest line, read a few more skill books, get married, and reach level 50. I’m 41 at the moment. I think I’ve decided who I’d like to marry, but I’m waiting until I’ve found a home that I really like before I do that.

Yesterday I bought the Dawnguard and Hearthfire DLC packs, so I’ll start work on those, too. I already unlocked the achievement for gaining 11 werewolf perks, which was a fun diversion but not really in-keeping with how I picture my character. I’m looking forward to working through the Dawnguard story, and siding with the vampires: a shadowy force that stalks the night is very much more like my elf.

Well, you don’t *have* to get married. Or buy a house. But you might want to 🙂
